What is Van Gogh Alive?

Van Gogh Alive is an immersive experience that brings Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous works to life. Through stunning projections, sound, and light, visitors step inside the artist’s world, surrounded by his vibrant paintings and the stories behind them.

Created by Grande Experiences, Van Gogh Alive has captivated over 10 million visitors worldwide across 110 cities including London, Sydney, and Tokyo. 

Van Gogh Alive Winchester marks a new chapter for this international phenomenon.

How long does the experience last?

The digital experience lasts around 45 minutes, but there will be additional activities to enjoy as part of your visit as well as a retail range in our shop. We anticipate most audiences will spend around 90 minutes.

Is Van Gogh Alive suitable for children?

Yes. The experience is designed for all ages. Children often love the scale, colour, and movement of the projections, while adults can enjoy the deeper insights into Van Gogh’s art and life. It’s family-friendly but not specifically a children’s show. The experience is set to a classical score that younger audiences may find loud. Children under 3 years old are free when they sit on an adult's lap. 

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, Van Gogh Alive Winchester is anticipated to be an extremely popular event and we strongly recommend advance booking to secure your preferred time slot. Capacity is limited and we anticipate Friday and Saturdays will be particularly popular. 

Where is Winchester Science Centre?

Winchester Science Centre (SO21 1HZ) is managed by Wonderseekers and is located on the edge of the South Downs National Park. There’s free on-site parking included as part of your ticket. 

Is it accessible for wheelchair users and those with additional needs?

Yes. The dome is fully accessible for wheelchairs and mobility aids, and the experience is suitable for most visitors with sensory sensitivities. It is a fully seated experience with all chairs reclined to enjoy the dome projections.   If you have any specific questions, please contact us access@wonderseekers.charity.

Can I take photos or videos inside?

Absolutely. Photography and short video clips are encouraged, just no tripods or flash, please. Don’t forget to tag us and share your experience using #VanGoghAliveWinchester

Can I book a private experience or bring a group?

Yes, both options are available. Contact the team hire@winchestersciencecentre.org and we can work with you to create a tailored package or experience. 

Will there be food and drink available to purchase?

Yes, on arrival you will be invited to enjoy champagne, European wines, and a selection of drinks and snacks. You can take those into the exhibition with you. Our neighbours at Voco hotel have a special Van Gogh menu for those looking to extend their visit.
